Our Firm

Andi Gunawan & Associates (AGA), founded in 2015 and is designed to be an independent Indonesian law firm that caters the client-specific demand for customized legal services across industry sectors and practice areas. As of 2020, AGA entered into a strategic alliance with RÖDL (formerly Rödl & Partner), an international consulting firm whose head office in Nuremberg, Germany.

Amid the growing number of law firms and developing needs for legal services in Indonesia, we believe that building and maintaining a long-term and successful partnership with our clients requires a strong and mutually trust-based relationship. Hence, we acknowledge the importance of consistently excellent quality execution in building such great partnerships, and accordingly, thrive on delivering the best personalized and practical solution to each client’s need on every occasion. We also work with regional or international law firms on a non-exclusive basis.

The establishment of our firm was derived from Mr. Andi Gunawan’s thoughtful deliberation, as our Managing Partner, based on his 28+ years of experience in corporate legal practice. Our expertise is mainly in the area of M&A, capital market, corporate finance, project finance, and general corporate. The experiences, track records and all-around skills of the partner and senior team members enable us to provide customized and actionable advice to our clients. Compounded with our proven knowledge and skill set, we are confident to support our clients in achieving their business objectives and delivering legal services that can add value to our client’s businesses.

We position ourselves as an alternative local law firm that can cater to specific needs of legal support for our client’s businesses in an effective and efficient manner. A project-based legal services or more regular-based arrangement, such as secondment/retainer, is also our type of service that has been highly valued by our regular clients which allows us to form a solid and continuing relationship with our client.

Our Global Link

As of 2020, AGA entered into a strategic alliance with RÖDL, an international consulting firm whose head office in Nuremberg, Germany. With more than 100 offices worldwide practicing in various jurisdictions, RÖDL combines legal, commercial, tax and entrepreneurial expertise to offer legal services across international borders. RÖDL’s experienced attorneys work in interdisciplinary teams which include tax consultants, management consultants, and financial auditors. RÖDL possesses the necessary sector expertise to develop individual solution concepts and work around the world to uniform quality standards. AGA believes that the alliance with RÖDL will be mutually beneficial for their respective clients in this fast-changing world.

Our Social Contribution

As an individual and as a corporation, we believe that every single one of us has a responsibility to give back to the community. This commitment helps AGA team to appreciate the privileged position they hold in the community and to develop as fellow human beings.

Our partner and senior team members focus on taking a role in the development of legal education in Indonesia, serving as regular lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Universitas Indonesia, and frequently deliver lecturers and training programmes in the other academic and prominent training institutions, including Universitas Prasetiya Mulya, Jimly School of Law & Government, Intrinsics and STIH Jentera. These initiatives are supported by the active involvement of our associates and serves as training incubator for our entry level lawyers from time to time.

The difficult period of the pandemic that has occurred since early 2020 has not limited the contributions that we routinely make. The online class continues, hoping that knowledge in the world of practice can continue to be developed.

Our relationship with majority of our clients has been started long before our firm was formally established. We served our clients in a variety of legal works across the industry sectors which include consumer goods, manufacturing, coal mining, plantation, technology-based industry including financial technology, financial services and port support services sector.
